THE ORIGINAL CALL FOR PAPERS

(please note: the deadline for submission of paper proposals closed 30 March 2008, after an extension of an additional two weeks, the papers and participants have been selected by an organising committee consisting of Michael Witzel, Eric Venbrux and Wim van Binsbergen, and the preliminary programme was compiled as per 23 June 2008)

Participation and fees

Each accepted participant pays a conference fee of EUR€100 / US$150, which entitles the participant to board and lodging (alcoholic drinks not included). The fee can be paid as soon as notification of selection has been made (selected participants will be informed of the bank account in question), but has to be paid at conference registration  at the very latest. Accepted participants from outside Western Europe will in principle receive free air tickets (economy class return). Accepted participants from Western Europe outside the Netherlands will be considered for a travel refund only if the conference finances allow this; this entirely depends on the success of various applications for subsidy now still pending. In principle, the costs for local transport within the Netherlands, including transfers between the conference location and Amsterdam International Airport (by train: 1 hr 34 min., 2nd class ticket €17.30 / US$25.72 one-way, price level to date), will not be refunded for any of the participants. No per diem will be paid to any of the participants.

Submission of paper proposals (deadline: 15 March 2008)

Prospective participants are invited to submit an abstract of your proposed paper (maximum 500 words or  3500 characters in length) to the organising committee per email, by filling out and then electronically submitting (press the 'Submit' button) the ABSTRACT SUBMISSION FORM below. In writing the abstract, please take into account the general programme description, and then indicate to what section you would like to contribute.

The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 15 March 2008.

The organising committee will select about 15 full papers, and in addition a feasible number of shorter papers and posters for the Work in Progress section. The selected authors will be notified as soon as possible.

Conference website and pre-circulation of paper

The selected abstracts will be placed on the password-protected 'Papers' section of the present conference website: http://www.iacm.bravehost.com/index.htm . The presenters’ papers or Powerpoint presentations (which therefore must be of manageable size) are to be submitted to the organising committee by e-mail, no later than 4 August 2008, in order to be uploaded onto a password-protected section of the conference website. All participants will be informed of the password giving access to this section. In this way all will be able to read the papers before and during the conference (where in-house cordless internet is provided); as a result, presentation time can be minimal, and conference sessions can concentrate on lengthy and incisive discussion.

We look forward to hearing from you and to read the abstracts of proposed papers for what is promising to be a very exciting international conference with intense discussions and exchanges!

The organising committee
